How do I get an OpenAI key?
- Go to platform.openai.com and sign up with email, Google, Microsoft, or Apple. Verify your email and phone number when asked.
- Add a little billing credit. OpenAI uses prepaid credits with a $5 minimum to start. Note that a ChatGPT Plus subscription does not include API access, so you still need credit on the platform account even if you already pay for ChatGPT.
- Open platform.openai.com/api-keys, click Create new secret key, and copy it right away. OpenAI only shows the key once.
- Paste it into Lead2Lot under Admin, then API Key. It is encrypted the moment you save it.

Do I need my own OpenAI key?
Yes. Each dealership connects its own key, which is what keeps the app free and puts you in control of your AI spend. It is encrypted before it is stored and only used to make your images.
Will the images match my brand?
Yes. An admin sets your logo, colors, tagline, and reps one time. After that, every image follows those brand rules automatically, so a rep cannot accidentally send something off-brand.
What does it actually cost?
The Lead2Lot app is free. The only cost is OpenAI’s usage, billed to your own key. OpenAI requires a $5 minimum credit to start, and each image runs about 6 to 8 cents, so that first $5 covers roughly 65 to 80 images. We cover all the hosting.
